Abstract: The article compares the use of digital platforms in the gig economy and in cooperative work contexts. On the basis of two qualitative case studies on commercial and cooperative forms of platform labor in the bicycle courier sector, we discuss the changing interplay of technical and social structuring services in the coordination of work.
