Abstract:
Despite various political efforts towards inclusion, the chances of people with disabilities (PWD) to establish themselves on the general labor market in Germany are rather limited. With the aim of contributing to a comprehensive understanding of the underlying reasons, and going beyond the perspectives of integration officers, (human resources) managers, and PWD, this paper also considers the opinions and attitudes of less obviously involved actors, especially (potential) colleagues, as an inclusive labor market can only be established and sustained if everyone, whether people with or without disabilities, work together in mutual acceptance. The aim of providing such a comprehensive perspective is methodically addressed by qualitatively analyzing online comments and discussion threads applying the GABEK® method. The results of the performed analyses, focusing on the workplace situation and the labor market access, indicate that performance aspects are a central part of the debate and are controversially discussed in light of, for example, the fit between a person and his or her job as well as the idea of performance orientation in society in general. Furthermore, from descriptions of individual experiences, factors can be identified that determine (dys-)functional collaboration.
