Abstract: As part of a field experiment in the CoWin project, commuters were able to test and help shape the new coworking work model in real-life operations over a period of 27 months (September 2018 to December 2020). The study examined the potentials, but also the barriers and challenges (e.g. in terms of personnel and organisational structures) that arise for companies and employees through decentralised work organisations involving coworking spaces. It became apparent that so far only a few companies and employees recognise the strategic potential of a (further) decentralisation of work and accompany it appropriately with regard to a better quality of work. According to the thesis, many employees are not systematically prepared to exploit the potential of the coworking work model in terms of better quality of work and the conservation of individual and collective resources.
