Abstract:
This paper examines the concept of work orientations and provides new empirical insights into this research field. Based on a combination of quantitative and qualitative methods, both survey data and interview material are analyzed to point out various dimensions of work orientations. The results illustrate both similarities and differences between the two methodical approaches. Finally, the methodological implications for research in sociology of work are discussed and possible potentials as well as challenges for future mixed-methods studies are reflected upon.
