Is the Treasury Impotent?
Casey Mulligan
The Economists' Voice, 2008, vol. 5, issue 7, 3
Abstract:
The U.S. Treasury has decided to spend some of its $700 billion authority - $250 billion to start - to purchase equity in struggling banks. Casey Mulligan of the University of Chicago argues that this will not have the sought-after effect, and more likely it will have no effect at all.
