An Assessment of Some Recent Criticisms of the U.S. Airline Industry

Darin Lee

Review of Network Economics, 2003, vol. 2, issue 1, 9

Abstract: This article reviews a recent paper by Brock (2000) analyzing developments in the airline industry. Using Department of Transportation data, we attempt to verify a number of assertions made by Brock regarding changes in industry concentration and prices throughout the 1990s. We also compare a number of Brock's other concerns regarding the industry to well-known findings from the airline economics literature.
