Abstract:
The aim of the article is to conduct a discourse analysis of Kennan´s Long Telegram and the impact of its discourse on the further development of international relations in the respective historical period. On the basis of realist paradigm and poststructuralist Foucaultian discourse analysis, the article aims at pointing to consequences which the discourse provoked, as well as to analysing the interpretation the discourse constituted and offered to the American political elites being the discourse knowledge subject. Via the scientific methods of analysis, comparison and synthesis, it is to evaluate the role of this discourse for the creation of needed perspectives on the antagonist political and military rival, the formulation of ideological differences and a subsequent interpretation of threats leading to the bipolar division of the world.
