Abstract: The paper analyses the relative competitiveness of European Union countries and examines in which goods the EU28 has a comparative advantage compared with other countries. Several indicators in different modifications are used to measure the competitive advantages of the country in international trade. The most commonly used method of calculating the country's comparative advantage is the indicator of revealed comparative advantage. The aim of the paper is to analyze the current comparative advantages of the EU28 through the calculation of the RCA indexes for the EU28. The application of EU28 and world-wide export data to RCA index allows us to identify in which sectors has got the EU a comparative advantage and are competitive at global level. The analysis of these industries also allows the identification of threats to the future economic development of the EU.
