Abstract: Uruguay's economy has continued the development since the beginning of the 21st century, which began at the end of the 19th century. Agriculture and industries based on agricultural raw materials continue to play an important role. A substantial part of agricultural production goes abroad. Nevertheless, foreign trade does not have a significant position in the economy, measured by the share in gross domestic product. Gradually, the territorial structure of foreign trade is changing in favor of China and to the detriment of neighboring states - Argentina and Brazil. Foreign investment plays an important role. Uruguay's economy is showing some disparities. Overall, however, it can be assessed as successful.
