Abstract:
The Part 6 of this study analyzes Sino-Indian relations during the first Modi government in the period from clashes in the Doklam plateau in July 2017 until the beginning of the Period of small déténte in the Wuhan spirit in February 2018. Similarly as in the previous months also this period was characterized by more assertive Indian policy towards China. Practical manifestation of this approach consisted in assertive Indian plans of infrastructure building in disputed boundary regions with China, which led to increase of tension in the bilateral relation. The most serious escalation causing a crisis in mutual relations, occurred in Doklam Plateau in Middle sector. Even though tension in Doklam plateau did not break out into armed clashes, both sides conducted several demonstrations of power in the form of military exercises away from Doklam plateau. Along with the tension in the boundary areas both sides geopolitically competed in the regions of South Asia, Southeast Asia and in the Indian Ocean.
