Abstract:
(The aim of the article is to examine the concept of soft power which continues to be a critically examined topic by scholars. In the first part of the article we introduce different points of view on the nature of soft power followed by a brief overview of the theoretical knowledge about social power. In the course of the article, our attention is drawn to one of the critical soft power’s analysis, which in line with other authors’ observations leads us to conclusion, that “carrots and sticks” remain the dominant forms of power in international relations. Despite this observation, it is necessary to continue to distinguish between soft power and hard power. However, the criterion of differentiation is coercion, not the material or immaterial character of power.)
