Abstract: In the current geopolitical situation related to the restrictions of the EU member states on trade and economic relations with the Russian Federation, the development of a powerful energy export system in the eastern direction is one of the priorities and main sources of the Russian economy in the midterm. This article is devoted to review the prerequisites and causes of the current activity of the Russian Federation in the “eastern direction”. Eastern vector of Russia’s energy policy envisage the energy infrastructure development in the eastern territories of the Russian Federation and the export of Russian energy resources to the countries of the Asia-Pacific region.
