Abstract: Dem ifo Institut angeschlossen ist die Geschäftsstelle des Centre for International Research on Economic Tendency Surveys (CIRET). Auf der 21. CIRET-Konferenz, welche in Stellenbosch, Südafrika, stattfand, wurde wieder über Techniken und Ergebnisse von Konjunkturumfragen diskutiert. Ein besonderer Schwerpunkt lag jedoch auf den ökonomischen und politischen Entwicklungsperspektiven des Gastgeberlandes und den Erfolgsaussichten des Reformprozesses. Mit diesem Teil der Tagung befaßt sich der Beitrag.
