Abstract: 1997 dürfte das reale Bruttoinlandsprodukt in Belgien um knapp 2,5% expandiert haben. Die Beschäftigung nahm leicht zu, und die Arbeitslosigkeit ging langsam zurück (13,25%). Für 1998 kann mit einem Zuwachs des realen BIP um etwa 2,5% gerechnet werden. Die dynamischste Komponente bleibt auch in Belgien der Export (5,5%). Die Arbeitslosenquote dürfte auf 12,75% sinken. 1999 könnten Nachfrage und Produktion im späteren Verlauf des Jahres etwas an Schwung verlieren. Da BIP dürfte um ca. 2,5% wachsen, die Arbeitslosenquote erneut um etwa 0,5 Prozentpunkte zurückgehen.
