Abstract: The financial crisis has prompted a rethinking of regulations on the capital held by banks but also its quality. Accordingly, banks will have to meet certain capital requirements under Basel III timetable. This paper focuses on understanding the concept of Structure of bank capital because regulation by setting minimum capital levels influence the choice of capital structure by banks (involuntary decisions). Voluntary decisions on bank capital structure coincide with those of non-financial firms, and therefore they have the same determinant factors.
