Abstract:
This work proposes a theoretical and practical approach for the analysis of the innovation generated in organizations through alternative routes to Research and Development (R&D). Based on an exploratory study within a qualitative approach, the theoretical bases on non-R&D innovation have been proposed, in which activities, capacities and mechanisms to establish an interaction with the environment (both internal and external) are being considered. Subsequently, in a field work phase in the footwear and leather goods sector in Bogotá, Colombia, the application of the theoretical assumptions in the organizational reality was validated, finding recognition of knowledge, technology and design activities as sources of innovation. In contrast, a low perception of associativity as an input in this same matter was found
