Review Article: ‘Exit, Voice, and Loyalty’

Brian Barry

British Journal of Political Science, 1974, vol. 4, issue 1, 79-107

Abstract: My primary purpose in this review is to provide a detailed critique of the internal logic of Albert O. Hirschman's Exit, Voice, and Loyalty. Before doing this, however, I should like to consider briefly the phenomenon of which it is an exemplar: the ‘in’ book. For this raises some general questions of interest.
