The growth of nations and states in Europe before 1800
Wim Blockmans
European Review, 1996, vol. 4, issue 3, 241-251
Abstract:
Recent events have seen a tendency for large states to break up, in opposition to the consolidating processes which were general when small states became merged in much of Europe—although this process can be considered as still continuing in the European Union. At the same time there has been a growth of multinational companies which cut across such power groupings.
