Abstract: The third report of the Disarmament Commission, adopted at a brief meeting on August 20, 1953, noted that the Commission had not met since theadoption at the seventh session of the General Assembly of a resolution asking that the Commission report to the Assembly and to the Security Council not later than September 1, 1953. The report added that the Commission hoped “that recent international events will create a more propitious atmosphere for the reconsideration of the disarmament question” and suggested that a report be submitted to the ninth session of the Assembly.
