Abstract: Annual Report of the Secretary-General: In the introduction to the tenth annual report of the Secretary-General on the work of the United Nations, which covered the period of July I, 1954, to June 15, 1955, Dag Hammarskjold stated that the tenth year of the existence of the United Nations, unlike the previous nine, had seen a lessening of tension in world affairs; he cited the Austrian Treaty, the meeting of the Big Four at Geneva, and the Bandung Conference as examples of developments which “… give reason for hope that they may be followed by others in the same direction.
