Abstract: The first of the two books, Wealth in America, fills an important gap in the recent literature on inequality in America. The most recent comprehensive treatment of wealth inequality in the United States is, perhaps, Robert Lampman's book, The Share of Top Wealth-Holders in National Wealth, 1922–56, (Princeton, NJ: Princeton University Press, 1962). However, its coverage of wealth inequality ends in 1956.
