Pedagogical Constellations, 2026, vol. 5, issue 1, 12-34

Abstract: The objective of the study is to analyze the potential of basketball as a pedagogical and didactic tool within the framework of Quality Physical Education (QPE), aimed at developing civic skills, inclusion, and comprehensive student training. The research is based on a narrative review of the literature that allows for the organization and synthesis of scientific knowledge on teaching practices in team sports. The data obtained indicate that bringing basketball into the classroom stimulates mental processes and decision-making skills, as students must solve problems in contexts where nothing is certain. It is confirmed that the teacher's intervention is vital to creating an atmosphere of emotional trust that protects overall health and helps students control their reactions. The analysis reveals that this sport helps achieve social justice and equality, allowing everyone to participate fully, taking into account those with special needs through changes in the rules and equipment of the game. In conclusion, it is established that basketball is an activity that goes beyond physical skill to become a space for democratic coexistence.
