Abstract: This paper illustrates the analytical construction of the industry trade box as used in Azhar, Elliott, and Milner (1998). This representation enables the use of the trade box as a geometric tool in the analysis of changes in trade patterns in particular changes in inter and intra industry trade. The use of this simple methodological construct is applicable to any country's bilateral or multilateral studies on trade patterns and to any number of industries or years.
