Efficiency in English higher education institutions revisited: a network approach

Abstract: The efficiency of English higher education institutions is evaluated using a traditional ‘black-box' data envelopment analysis (DEA) and using an alternative method, namely network DEA. The alternative method is seen to provide considerable additional information, and suggests that institutions could increase their efficiency by focusing attention on employability issues.
