Abstract: This study empirically confirms that fertility rebound in high income countries depends not only upon the so-called inverse J-shaped relationship between fertility and income confirmed by previous studies but also upon another convex relationship between fertility and narrowing of the gender gap measured by the Global Gender Gap Index. This study also confirms that the convex relationship between fertility and narrowing of the gender gap is attributable to a reduction in the gender gap in the area of economic participation.
