Abstract: This paper examines the determinants of net FDI inflows in 89 low and middle-income countries for the period 1980-2014. It focuses on the role of institutional and resource abundance in attracting FDI. Democracy, Economic Freedom and Legal and Property Rights attract FDI, as do growth, secondary school enrollment, and openness. However, only coal and forest rents act to positively affect FDI.
