Skill preferences in job postings

Andrei Ternikov

Economics Bulletin, 2023, vol. 43, issue 4, 1928 - 1943

Abstract: This paper investigates the order of skills mentioned in job ads, their frequency, and whether there is a relation between skill groups and salary offered. A novel methodology was used across three job board datasets to demonstrate existing skill preferences in job ads. By identifying skill preferences empirically, the methodology yields valuable insights into the job market.
