Abstract: This study investigated the impact of parental presumption on adolescents' mental health and suicidal thoughts in tertiary institutions in Anambra state-Nigeria. A researcher-developed instrument, “Impact of Unhealthy Parental Presumption and Adolescents' Mental Health†(IUPPAMH), was used on 120 students. Findings showed that parental presumption significantly impacted adolescents' mental health, leading to stress, depression, physical aggression, anxiety, poor sleep quality, and suicidal thoughts. The study recommends that parents avoid coercion and consider their children's individual needs and abilities.
