Abstract:
This study is a research report, developed as an overview of the concept of doctor - patient communication. One of the most important aspects of the relationship between doctor and patient is the way that both parties have something to gain. This research is based on the necessity of performant communication between doctors and patients, the purpose of which is to ensure that patients and caregivers receive all the information that they need. The main focus of this study is to create a theoretical basis of the importance of doctor patient communication by pragmatically analyzing the concept of communication as an integral aspect of health care. Effective doctor - patient communication can be a source of motivation, incentive, reassurance and support. A good doctor-patient relationship can increase job satisfaction and reinforce patients' self- confidence, motivation and positively influence their view of their health status, thus positively impacting the treatment outcome. Most complaints made about doctors are related to issues of communication, not clinical competency. Patients want doctors who can not only skillfully diagnose and treat what ails them, but also communicate with them effectively.
