Remarks on anti-tridiagonal matrices

Natália Bebiano and Susana Furtado

Applied Mathematics and Computation, 2020, vol. 373, issue C

Abstract: This paper gives a permutation similarity reduction of anti-tridiagonal matrices, with at most two nonzero anti-diagonals, to tridiagonal matrices. Using this reduction and results in the literature for tridiagonal matrices, eigenvalues, eigenvectors and distance to normality of classes of anti-tridiagonal matrices are studied. A numerical example illustrating the discussed topics is provided.
