Abstract:
Harnessing wind power in developing countries is becoming increasingly popular. This paper outlines the appropriateness of flexible-sail wind-turbines for driving water pumps and describes their benefits for rural communities of the Third World. The limitations of many [`]aid' programmes are also discussed.
