Abstract:
Previous investigations have shown that the maximum power outputs from small, horizontal-axis wind-turbines can be significantly increased if tip-fins and centre-bodies are added to the turbine. This paper describes quantitatively the effects of employing these two power enhancement devices simultaneously, and presents further optimisation data for tip-fins when used in conjunction with a centre-body augmented rotor.
