Abstract:
Design philosophies and materials selection criteria are discussed in relation to the growers' desire for economically viable crop production. Particular attention is devoted to the interaction of the thermal considerations concerning greenhouses with the structural and environmental aspects and with crop behaviour. Developments in the use of waste heat for greenhouse heating and in integrated heating and cooling systems are discussed.
