Abstract:
An analysis of the photovoltaic field power loss, due to failed cells (i.e, open-circuit failures), is presented. Power curves for a large sample of field configurations have been computed by using a simplified cell model. Some general rules relating the structure parameters to the power loss are stated. These results are supported by a small sample of power curves computed by using a realistic cell model. Also the role played (on the power curves) by the fill factors is clarified.
