Applied Energy, 2019, vol. 235, issue C, 553-563

Abstract: The emerging integrated energy systems accelerate the coupling of natural gas-electricity networks. Both pipeline and power companies are drawing increasing attention to the voltage induction on pipelines caused by powerline currents. This paper proposes a novel active method for mitigating induced voltage along pipelines. This method employs controllable voltage generators to apply proper voltage to pipeline and mitigate the induced voltage from nearby power lines. The applied voltage can be adjusted by the embedded feedback controller according to the measured voltage. By solving the coordination and interference issues, the whole active mitigation system is established. This paper provides the case study, the experimental study and the results to show the capability of the proposed method.
