The national case for local production of heat and power in parallel with the public supply of electricity

Abstract:
This paper suggests that if local generation of electricity combined with the production of useful heat is viewed as part of a national system for electricity generation then it appears an economically attractive practice in many cases. A basis for calculating the optimum installed electrical generating capacity in terms of the characteristics of the heat demand is suggested.
