Heat-transfer analysis of a west-facing wall

Weiyuan H. Liu and En-Hai Wang

Applied Energy, 1988, vol. 31, issue 1, 18 pages

Abstract: This paper presents a mathematical analysis appropriate for the calculation of heat transfer phenomena of a west-facing wall subjected to time-dependent boundary conditions. The distribution functions of the total incident solar radiation on the wall surface and the convective heat-transfer coefficient have great influences on the heat-transfer rate. Averaged ambient temperature and total incident solar radiation functions can be used to estimate the heat gains through exterior walls.
