Abstract:
This paper presents a mathematical analysis appropriate for the calculation of heat transfer phenomena of a west-facing wall subjected to time-dependent boundary conditions. The distribution functions of the total incident solar radiation on the wall surface and the convective heat-transfer coefficient have great influences on the heat-transfer rate. Averaged ambient temperature and total incident solar radiation functions can be used to estimate the heat gains through exterior walls.
