Applied Energy, 1989, vol. 32, issue 3, 207-223

Abstract: This paper presents the transient behaviour of a double-basin solar still with dye present in the basin water. The effects of various parameters like upper and lower basin water mass, absorptivity of lower basin water with dye, etc. have been studied. Numerical computations were carried out for a typical hot day, 11 May 1987, at New Delhi. On the basis of the numerical results, it is observed that the performance of the system is better when dye is added to the water compared with that without dye.
