Abstract:
A real-time M & T (monitoring and targeting) procedure for energy usage in a large boilerhouse plant has been developed and applied. Examples of typical sequences of the recorded data are analysed and are shown to indicate and identify quantitatively those significant opportunities which exist for energy thrift, and which may be achieved solely through modifications to the operational procedures. The M & T approach provides the information necessary for obtaining a better understanding of the procedures and more effective operation of a large centrally controlled energy system.
