Abstract: The Air-cooled and open cathode proton exchange fuel cell (PEMFC) offers particular advantages in terms of complexity and weight reduction. Therefore, it seems very attractive to support the aviation industry in their de‑carbonisation process. Major challenges in terms of operational stability and reliability hinders this technology to be used in commercial applications.
