Abstract:
The performances of Rankine-cycle power-systems, using steam as the working fluid, have been simulated and analysed. The proposed interactive computer programs (in Basic language) for estimating the thermodynamic properties of water and steam, and for predicting the behaviours of simple, reheat and regenerative Rankine-cycle systems are listed. The accuracies of the computed values of the desired properties have been assessed. Samples of the performance characteristics predicted, employing the programs developed, are given. The suite of programs presented should help facilitate predicting the optimal design and operating conditions of a proposed Rankine-cycle system for a particular application.
