Abstract:
This paper is the editorial of the VSI (virtual special issue) of Applied Energy (APEN) dedicated to the 18th Conference on Sustainable Development of Energy Water and Environment Systems (SDEWES) held in 2023, from September 24th to 29th in Dubrovnik, Croatia. The VSI, after a rigorous pre-screening among the more than 600 submissions, around 40 authors were invited to submit the extended version of their work to Applied Energy with a final number of 14 published articles. Sustainable Energy Systems are explored by the authors of those papers from different perspectives by presenting innovative and cutting-edge solutions.
