Abstract: Biochar is an organic substance that forms when biomass or other carbon-based materials undergo thermochemical reactions. This material's remarkable conductivity and affordable price have attracted significant interest for its potential use in fuel cells. Nevertheless, a thorough examination of how biochar affects electrochemical systems' efficiency has not yet been carried out. Therefore, it is essential to assess the effectiveness of using biochar in fuel cells. A brief synopsis of the many applications of biochar in electrochemical systems and their possible processes was then provided. The study examined the potential future use of biochar in fuel cells. In the context of a circular economy, it also examined its potential and potential environmental effects. The goal of this review is to provide you with a comprehensive understanding of the applications of biochar in electrochemical systems. For practical applications, it will also assist you in comprehending the safe and efficient usage of biochar in fuel cells.
