Effect of thermal contact resistance on the performance of transformer lamination stacks

Abstract:
The efficiency and life of a transformer may be increased by prestressing the lamination-to-lamination contacts of its core to about 1 kNm-2. This permits a relatively high rate of thermal transmission without impairing the electrical insulation.
