Performance of the optimal wind turbine

R.T. Griffiths and M.G. Woollard

Applied Energy, 1978, vol. 4, issue 4, 272 pages

Abstract: The performance of a typical wind turbine, designed to give maximum power coefficient at a tip speed ratio of 5, has been estimated over a range of speed ratios and pitch angles using blade element theory. Information is given on the power, torque and thrust developed and on the nature of the flow over the blades.
