Abstract:
A computation method for determining the optimal size of a solar heating plant according to the criterion of minimising its total (capital plus running) cost is described. The resulting computer program calculates the energy output of a solar system as a function of the collector area and of the heat storage unit capacity, starting from daily averages of climatic data in the localities considered. It predicts the optimal configuration and provides for it an overall cost-benefit analysis.
