Reduction of the NOx emission of a closed combustion chamber by changing to air flows with swirl

Abstract:
From a study of NOx production in flames it follows that NOx emission differs for various combustion chambers. In addition to increasing the combustion chamber temperature or the volume flow into the combustion chamber, it is essential to find another way of reducing the production of NOx in the combustion process. In this paper the effect of swirl on NOx production is considered using a combustion chamber having air entry first without and then with swirl. Graphs show the influence of swirl on NOx reduction.
