Successive jamming transitions in traffic flow on directed Sierpinski gasket

Takashi Nagatani

Chaos, Solitons & Fractals, 2023, vol. 167, issue C

Abstract: We study the macroscopic traffic flow and jamming transitions on directed Sierpinski gasket fractal which is closely connected to complex network. We propose a dynamic model for macroscopic traffic flow on directed Sierpinski gasket. The macroscopic dynamic equations of vehicular densities are derived on the directed network. It is shown where and how traffic jam occurs on directed networks. It is found that multiple transitions occur successively with increasing vehicular density. The successive transition points are derived numerically and analytically.
