Abstract: This paper incorporates nonlocal response and saturable nonlinearity into a nonlinear Schrödinger equation. We analyze traveling wave solutions of a generalized nonlocal nonlinear Schrödinger equation with competing nonlocal nonlinearity in saturable media. By employing the similarity transformation technique, we derive chirped self-similar wave solutions in specific saturable media. The dynamical structure of these self-similar solutions is examined within the framework of a switching control system that includes periodically distributed amplification. Finally, the dynamical behavior of the nonlinear wave solutions is investigated using phase plane analysis and modulational instability analysis.
