Benford and power law distributions: Representation and simulation

Claudio Lupi

Chaos, Solitons & Fractals, 2025, vol. 194, issue C

Abstract: Some implications of the strong form of Benford’s law are analysed. It is shown that there is a close relationship between Benford’s law and power laws, which explains why the scope of these laws is often very similar. Furthermore, it is shown how to simulate Benford random variables with the desired characteristics.
